Excellent River Camping

14th March 2002: Canebrake Pool – Alexandra Bridge

Broke camp and drove some 50 kms south to Alexander Bridge campground which is on the Blackwood River about 25 kms from Augusta. Canebrake Pool, like Baden Powell Pool, was a good spot and provided excellent river camping. Alexander Bridge continues this theme; the Blackwood River is quite substantial here (wide and deep).

Interlude

One of the locals!

Well its been some 3 and a half months since out journey began. Thinking back on places such as Kangaroo Island, Mambray Creek and William Creek, seem like part of another holiday.

We are now into Western Australia, our first time here. So far we have not been disappointed. The beach of Esperance and Cape Arid, the beauty of Fitzgerald River National Park, Perth, Rottnest Island and the forest country on the Murray, Collie and Margaret Rivers.

Still plenty of time in the south and north terrain and conditions (they have recently had cyclones and floods). I think we are still on track with what we want to accomplish.

Haven’t though much about things like the house and work. Family still holds some attention – Mark’s first child, Brett’s first to come, Paul & Linda and of course friends not seen.

21st March 2002: Alexandra Bridge – Manjimup

Headed east, approx 90kms , to Manjimup and decided to stay in a caravan park to catch up on the laundry and recharge our electrical items. Also did some searching for a place to stay over the Easter week-end.
