Dane & Wayne

Dane & Wayne did their apprenticeship together and were good mates. They arrived at work each day in Dane’s hotted up panel van and the smoke fuming out of their car was not exactly petrol related, if you know what I mean.

Dane was a drummer in a newly formed rock band and when Wayne got “the sack” from our workplace due to his uncanny ability to do practically nothing everyday, Dane decided it was time to move onto greener pastures himself and assume a career as a fulltime musician. Some “literary genius” penned the following ode to Dane on his farewell card:

There was a yound lad called Dane
Who had a buddy named Wayne
They both worked at Minet
But their heart wasn't in it
So the time they spent here was in vain

There was a yong muso named Dane
Who treated his work with disdain
His attitude was wrong
He just wanted his bong
In the end it affected his brain

Dane worked at Minet for only five years
And when he left us he wasn't in tears
He's gone to play drum
Till your eardrums are numb
But all of his groupies are queers

He left us to play in his band
To do gigs all over this land
As the drums he did beat
Like a mad dog on heat
His fans thought he sounded just grand

He left us to join the rock scene
To prove he was not just a has been
He went in his van
To become a big man
If you spot him you'll know what I mean

He wanted to be a rock star
And drove off one day in his car
He thought up a jingle
And released a new single
I always said he'd he go far
