28 January 2002: Esperance – Thomas River (Cape Arid National Park)
We travel 120kms east to Cape Arid NP which is along the coast, almost south of Balladonia on the Nullabor. Isolated camping and brilliant beaches.

1st February 2002: Thomas River (Cape Arid National Park) – Le Grand Beach (Cape LeGrand NP)
We camp in the national park for 4 nights. During this time we walk from Le Grand Beach to Hellfire Bay and back (4hrs), explore the beautiful beaches which I reckon are some of the best in Australia, climb Frenchman’s Peak (strenuous 30 minute wallk to the top) offering great panoramas of the costline and inland, go snorkelling, fishing…. plenty to keep us busy!

YOU'VE GOTTA BE IN THE WATER
If you want to catch fish you've got be in the water,
Any other place is simply out of order,
Julie wanted to try fishing, so I taught her,
Rule number one, you've got to be in the water.
Catching a fish is fun, it sends blood through your aorta,
But to get his feeling you've gotta be in the water,
Other game is easy, it's just a matter of a mortar,
But with fish you've gotta be in the water!
Anyone can try it, dad, mum or the daughter,
But for each it's the same, you've gotta be in the water,
When finally a nibble, don't give an inch or a quarter,
The only way to reel them in, you've gotta be in the water!
Can't be fiddling with equipment, making paternaster traces shorter,
A sure fire method, you've gotta be in the water,
So my friends, to be successful at fishing, you know you oughta',
Set yourself up properly because, you've gotta be in the water.
