1st January 2002: Wilkawillina Gorge (Flinders Ranges NP) – Grindell’s Hut (Gammon Ranges NP)

We camp in a remote spote in the Gammon Ranges after travelling 180km along good dirt roads, the last 17km real 4WD taking nearly an hour to travel (made worse by recent flash floods).
Back at camp that night we are entertained by some Little Corella’s evacuating their recently eaten meals on our camp which inspired the poem below.
Corella Coprolite
Well bugger me dead if I wasn't sitting there,
At the campsite in my comfy little chair,
Reading my book in the fading sunlight,
When from above, the first Corella Coprolite.
It really wasn't unexpected,
We sat enraptured as the multitudes nested,
As I relaxed, from a great height,
Came the second Corella Coprolite.
Persistent little buggers I was prone to think,
But I wasn't moving as I enjoyed my drink,
It came without giving me a fright,
The third Corella Corpolite.
It seems the blighters have good aim,
I'm not giving in, it's now a real game,
But I didn't reck'on on the might,
Of the fourth Corella Coprolite.
As quick as they came they disappeared,
"Well about time," I heartily cheered,
It seemed we were in for some respite,
From the dreaded Corella Coprolite.
A grand thing I thought with glee,
But alas it was to be only momentr'y,
For on or equipment overnight,
Came a plethora of Corella Coprolite.
2nd January 2002: Grindell’s Hut (Gammon Ranges NP) – Mainwater Well (Gammon Ranges NP)

After packing up, we start the day with a 7km hike from near Grindell’s Hut to Weetoolta Gorge and Weetoolta Spring where we find a delightful small plunge pool between boulders with several small waterfalls running into it.
